The Last Duel – Fan Review

Synopsis: The Last Duel is a 2021 epic historical drama film directed by Ridley Scott from a screenplay by Nicole Holofcener, Ben Affleck, and Matt Damon, based on the 2004 book The Last Duel: A True Story of Trial by Combat in Medieval France by Eric Jager. Set in medieval France, the film stars Damon as Jean de Carrouges, a knight who challenges his friend and squire Jacques Le Gris (Adam Driver) to a judicial duel after Jean’s wife, Marguerite (Jodie Comer), accuses Jacques of raping her. The events leading up to the duel are divided into three chapters, reflecting the perspectives of the three main characters.

Pros:
The Separation of the movie into three chapters worked seamlessly without being confusing or jaring.
Jodie Corner’s performance was just phenomenal throughout.
Matt Damon gave a chilling strong performance, as did Adam Driver.
Gorgeous Cinematography and Color Grading, liked it more than Dune’s. Framing was just beautiful.
The Production & Costume Design was top notch.
The actual duel was gritty, gnarly and raw.
Ben Affleck as Simple Jack
Hauntingly beautiful score.

Cons:
There is none to me.

Sir Ridley Scott is 83 years old and is still making bangers, this movie needs more attention, Hands down, best movie I’ve seen all year so far in cinemas so please go and see this in theatres if you can.
